Grey Canal Coffee
Grey Canal coffee is the project of my friend in coffee and fellow Vernonite, Andrew McWilliam (along with his family). Grey Canal is an importer of sorts, making available to Okanagan residents great coffees from roasters outside the area. Thus far they’ve featured great coffees from Vancouver island company Drumroaster, including an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (Koke) that I pulled as one of the best espresso shots I’ve ever had.
It’s great to see some locals taking the initiative in bringing in some great coffee, especially when Vernon is so sadly deficient in this regard. I’m not sure what their plans are, but I’d love to see Grey Canal Coffee grow into something bigger (how about a cafe Andrew?)
